This is a bankerslife.

Hello, permit me to introduce myself. My name is The Banker (borrowed thou) (as if i am the only banker on earth) I have been in the profession for over 5 years. I happen to find myself in the profession based on the fact that after graduation from University, there were no jobs forthcoming in other key sectors of the economy (thanks to OBJ and his forerunners) and I needed to lay my hands on a job that will give me Financial Freedom, a seemingly impossible thing that I had watched most Nigerian dedicated – to – work parents struggle with while I was growing up. The Nigerian banking industry provided me with the opportunity to almost achieve my dreams. I say almost because up until now, am yet to fully understand what financial freedom is and I wonder if this job is what will give me that freedom. Agreed we all earn fat salaries courtesy of our benefactors (our employers) who we in turn help to earn headline screaming profits, but I always wonder where our own money goes to? We teach people how or where to invest their money for “good” returns, however, we do not even have any money to “return to” at the end of the month. We have fancy cars, beautiful houses, beautiful women, the hunkiest of men but we do not have time to enjoy them. It’s like romancing a stone, you give it all you got but get bruises in return. As a banker with over 5 years of experience, I have been a hailed as an outstanding performer and have also been vilified for lackluster performance. I have made money and have also lost money. The essence of my preamble is to let you know that I have every qualification to talk about life as a Nigerian banker. This blog is simply about that, the daily experiences of a Nigerian banker, reported weekly. Of course in my weekly postings I will not call names of banks or individuals that I will come across in my journey. However, much better than a newspaper column, this will be raw as it happens daily, no editor, no sanctions, no fear of any repercussions from any Oga. (I get pissed when i hear people that are meant to be working in world class organisations saying "my Oga") The job itself, salary cuts and increases, the bosses, war between operators and marketers, who is dating who, the currency dealers in banks, money launderers, cross carpeters etc. will all feature one way or the other in my postings. Your own life experiences can also be shared here, so do not hesitate to mail me with your own stories. I would love not to take too much of your time daily so I will make it weekly, but hey it’s worth it cos something that happens to me today will be of help to you tomorrow if you know about it. Keep weekly dates with me as we decipher a banker’s life. let me share these crazy thots with you.
Home: A place where you can scratch where it itches.
Doctor: A person who cures the ills by pills, and kills by his bills.
LOVE: Loss Of Valuable Energy
WIFE: Worries Invited For Ever

I do not believe them all thou, cos to me, the greatest thing to happen is LOVE.
